Google Drive Sync for VoxBee: Back Up Meetings, Transcripts, and Notes

VoxBee has always saved your transcripts, summaries, and notes as plain files in ~/Documents/VoxBee/. That's still true — and now those files can also live in your own Google Drive, mirrored automatically every time something changes.

One Click to Connect

Open Settings → AI & Summaries → Connect Google Drive. VoxBee walks you through Google's OAuth flow in your default browser, then creates a folder called VoxBee/ in the root of your Drive on first sync. After that, every new meeting summary, transcript, note, or edit gets synced automatically.

Drag It Anywhere

You can drag the VoxBee/ folder anywhere in your Drive — into a "Work" folder, a "Personal" folder, a shared team Drive — and sync keeps working. VoxBee binds sync to the folder's Drive ID, not its path, so moves and renames don't break anything.

Limited Access, By Design

VoxBee uses Google's drive.file scope. That means VoxBee can only see and modify files it created. The rest of your Drive — every other doc, sheet, slide, and folder — is invisible to the app. No CASA audit treadmill, no overbroad access, no "VoxBee can see all your files" warnings.

What Gets Synced

  • Meeting summaries — every meeting's markdown summary and exports
  • Transcriptions — full transcripts (TXT, SRT, MD) and AI summaries
  • Notes — the voice-driven scratch pad, every save

Audio files (the raw recordings) stay local by default. Sync runs after each recording, edit, re-transcription, diarization export, and note save — there's no manual "sync now" button to remember.

Folder Renames, Tracked

If you rename a meeting locally, VoxBee detects the change and renames the folder on Drive in place — preserving the folder's Drive ID. Any shares or links you set up against that folder survive the rename.

Disconnect Whenever

From the same settings page, hit Disconnect. VoxBee revokes its OAuth token, wipes the local sync manifest, and stops uploading. The files already in your Drive stay where they are — they're yours.

What About iCloud and Dropbox?

VoxBee's storage folder (~/Documents/VoxBee/) is just a regular local folder. If you'd prefer iCloud Drive or Dropbox, point the folder at one of those instead via Settings → AI & Summaries → Summary directory. Drive sync is for people who want a managed, app-specific backup in Drive without having to redirect their ~/Documents.
